Hi,
I use version std6 and pro5.02.
Need to know if it is possible to arrange data as follows:
Data summarised as follows
ABC049295 TTNU9617732
ABC049297 MSKU6271957
ABC049297 SCMU4034036
ABC049297 TRIU5375980

to be arranged as
ABC049295 TTNU9617732
ABC049297 MSKU6271957 SCMU4034036 TRIU5375980

Hi

The kind of summary you are describing is a "crosstab" summary. You would specify your data in the 2nd column of your example as displaying "across" the summary window.

Doing this for all your data would yield a summary looking something like this (not quite matching what you want):

TTNU9617732 MSKU6271957 SCMU4034036 TRIU5375980
ABC049295
ABC049297 You could, with V7 Pro, define multiple summaries, one for each ABC code, each of which would look the way you want, and then use a Project Export to export each summary one at a time with one click.

Is your "Data Summarised as" section a Monarch produced summary?

If so could you get it so that the repeating values in the first column were suppressed. (In fact even if it is not originally a Monarch summary could you use Monarch to get it to drop the repeating values?)

If it looked like this in a report;

ABC049295 TTNU9617732
ABC049297 MSKU6271957
SCMU4034036
TRIU5375980 you could set up a model for that report that treated the right side column as a multi-line field for every entry in the left side column. That should get you to the format you are looking for either as a single column with several codes OR by splitting the single field out into multiple fields again.

On the other hand, Mike's suggestion would be better if it is close enough to what you want for your purposes.

Or you could take that result and export it to a new file, then set up another model to read the new file and manipulate the columns to the format you require.

Looks like 2 stages either way if you go beyond Mike's suggestion.

Because i need to join two files where the
common field is the update in the 1st column per sample.

Sorry, I don't understand how the need to link affects what you want to do.

Are you linking before the first summary list?

Or do you need to link AFTER the required summary is produced in the one line format?

If you are linking BEFORE the first summary to get the 2 columns in a table then you will need a summary of that to start with. Then export the new summary to a file and run another Monarch model on the new file.

Either that or I have missed something in what you wrote - which is quite possible!
