Has anyone run v6 and v7 of Data Pump side by side? Is it even possible? Or a better question would be, Is the upgrade an actual upgrade or does it install basically a separate version.

Hi

It is possible to run them side by side. Take a look at the installation guide for more informationon upgrading, including issues like this.

The upgrade is very much a new and separate product, although a few components are shared with the old Datapump, albeit updated versions.
