Q: Will Monarch read PDF files?
A: No, take a look at our Redwing product, which extracts text and tables from PDF files. Redwing can extract the entire contents of a PDF file to a text file, which Monarch can read.
In most cases, the system that is producing PDF files, such as an ERP system, can just as easily create plain ASCII text files. There is the additional benefit that producing ASCII has far less overhead than publishing PDF, so CPU cycles and memory can be saved, if the output is to be used for analysis, rather than presentation.
